Our aims are to provide opportunities for children in Nepal through assisting with their education and healthcare, in the support of  compassionate home environment.

 

 

We are honored to have the Third Dupseng Rinpoche as the Patron of KFN. Rinpoche is the abbot of Jangchub Choeling Monastery in Pokhara Nepal and a revered lama of the Karma Kagyu lineage under  HH. The 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Thaye Dorje.

The Founder:

Paula Bronson

​

Paula has volunteered in medical camps several times in Nepal and has made many follow-up visits. She trained as a Physical Therapist in the USA in 1988. |She spent 10 months in 2019/2020 in rural Sindhupalchok, Nepal conducting fieldwork for her   PhD in Medical Anthropology at UCL, London. She is now writing up her dissertation while working as a Specialist Physiotherapist in Pain Management.

Tristan Harger-Bronson

Tristan holds a Masters in Classical Research from Roehampton University. He is currently studying for a second Masters in Library Science at City, University of London.He left the USA at age 5 and has a keen interest in tackling poverty and social inequalities for children around the world.

Country Director Nepal

Barsa Khadka

​

​

Barsa is originally from Birtamod, Jhapa, eastern Nepal and now lives in Kathmandu. She is a recent physiotherapy graduate and in addition to her role as Country Director she is funded fully by KFN by our London Marathon runners to  work 5 days a week as a physiotherapist at BIA with people with spinal cord injuries.  Barsa will be busy  developing and implementing new local grassroots programs in Nepal. She  has organized and facilitated  two Menstrual Exclusion Workshops , one at BIA and one at Sertshang Orphanage in Kathmandu.

Regional District Director for Sindhupalchok:

Nir Bahadur Pakren 

 

Nir is Tamang, one of the marginalized indigenous ethnic groups in Nepal, and is from Panchpokhari Thangalpal Rural Municipality in Sindhupalchok. With the help of his sisters, he completed his Law studies ( LLB & LLM),  an extraordinary achievement for a young man from a small village. Currently, Nir lives and works in Kathmandu as a law associate for C & K Associates. For the past ten years, he has been active with non-profit and social organizations working on education, public health, and women’s and girl’s empowerment. Nir is also a board member of Rural Scholarship Program, a local educational organization that helps students from rural settings complete higher education in Kathmandu. Nir places a high value on helping others.  By working with Kids First Nepal, he will bring his experience and enthusiasm for empowering young people to achieve their aspirations.
